About Us

As the events of 2024 unfolded, a maths teacher with  a degree in nuclear physics and a passion for climate action, a renewable energy engineer, an environmental scientist, a science teacher and a collective of concerned citizens got together and decided it was time to engage more directly in our Australian democratic system.

 

We are currently in a time where the push to nuclear is greater than it ever has been. We asked; why is this? And why now?

​June 9th 2024: Peter Dutton had a brainworm about Australia hosting Nuclear Power.

​

July 11th 2024: Rupert Murdoch published "Washington Decrees: Time to Arm Up" Australia [in newsprint The Australian].

August 1st 2024: Ted O'Brian (Liberal Party Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy) proposed Uranium Enrichment in Australia to "set Australia up for the future, not just economically, but also strategically" [The Australian]. Uranium enrichment for 'strategic purposes' implies nuclear weapons proliferation.

 

October 10th 2024: The Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Bill 2024 passes into law enabling decommissioned "AUKUS" nuclear powered submarines from the UK and the US to be brough to Australia for storage on any military base in the country as determined by the Minister for Defense. This represents the support of the importation of high level nuclear waste into Australia by both Labor and the Coalition.

The major parties already foisted AUKUS on us without citizen consultation, we can't let them get away with pushing through further nuclear armaments, waste, or power reactors. Especially now that the CSIRO has proven the economic un-viability of doing so.

We need 1500 members by November 30th 2024 to register our party and stand candidates for the Australian Senate and /or House of Representatives elections.

P.S. Just to be clear, we DO NOT oppose Nuclear Medicine! We are fully supportive of the micro-scale practices of Nuclear Medicine that work to save lives every day (and also produce a comparatively miniscule amount of nuclear waste).
